Investigating the Foreign

In this personal investigation of the Vorarlberg landscape, the foreign is interpreted as positive, as an attractive component of the environment that surrounds us. Openness to the unknown, to strange locations, spatial combinations, physical arrangements, people, customs, etc., thus formed the foundation of this project. Personal “enthusiasm for the foreign” led to “rapprochements with the foreign” in the area between Bregenz and Dornbirn. In a second step, the “foreign of the foreign” in Bregenz was charted using a situational methodology. An acceptance of the foreign can help to increase sensitivity for the landscape, facilitate communication about the unexpressed, and serve as a starting point for inspiration, consensus, and change.
