What’s Cool in the Achsiedlung Housing Project

The housing estate “Siedlung an der Ach” is home to many immigrants in Bregenz and seemed to me an appropriate place to explore the workshop theme of “our others.” In this project, a T-shirt design contest was organized with young people from the Achsiedlung project. First of all, each person described on a note card what he or she thought was cool about the Achsiedlung. The cards were shuffled and then passed out again. Participants then paired up in teams and combined the two ideas on the cards their team had selected to create one T-shirt design. Afterward, votes were cast and the most interesting designs were chosen. All six T-shirts made it into the exhibition. On the day of the workshop presentation, the visitors cast votes themselves, and three teams were selected as winners.
